If you found my web site through a google search it is because I know how to make a business show up well on a search engine.
I would like to let everyone know that getting a site to rank well, or show up, doesn't involve spending a lot of money in advertising. I spend less than $20 a year to get my site to rank as well as it does. Here are a few of my tricks. (But not quite all of them. You have to pay for something right?)
- Good content.
People need to be informed about what you do. The best way to do this is to just plainly tell them. If what your web site has to say is important, people will find it, (with a little help). Doing this with the intent of using and repeating certain key words will allow search engines to zero in on what your web site is really about. Also remember, everyone is doing the latest greatest thing, tell people why you are doing the next latest greatest thing. Give people specific details about why your product is the best.
- Clean Code / Meta Tags.
Get your site out there by writing clean code and with strategic meta tags, (hidden words or phrases that display information about your content). Using up to date web practices and hiding unnecessary code will allow the search engines to bypass all the technical jargon and get straight to what is important.
- Work with search engine tools.
Google and other search engines have tools made for web masters to promote their sites. Unfortunately a lot of designers and Search Engine Optimization companies rely solely on affiliate marketing, (paying to link back and forth to each other, which can be extremely expensive and very time consuming). Using these web master tools properly can greatly increase your chances of being ranked well.
